Today we mark Ukraine’s Diplomatic Service Day!
On
December 22, 1917, the General Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of the Ukrainian People’s Republic was established – the first institution of Ukrainian modern foreign policy.
More than a century ago, Ukrainian diplomats opened embassies and consulates across continents, sought international recognition, and developed cultural diplomacy. This work continued even after Soviet forces took over Ukraine. Their mission was clear: to present Ukraine to the world, protect its right to independence, and demonstrate that it is an equal partner.
Today, Ukrainian diplomacy is once again at the forefront of defending freedom. Every day, it works to make Ukraine stronger, to ensure that our defenders have everything they need to protect the country with weapons in hand, to amplify Ukraine’s voice globally, and to secure strong, lasting support from our friends and partners.
Protecting the rights of Ukrainians abroad, countering Russian aggression, and strengthening the international coalition in support of Ukraine are all part of the daily work of Ukrainian diplomats.
Our sincere gratitude to Ukrainian diplomats and our partners worldwide who work to strengthen Ukraine’s security and its voice worldwide.
