A ceremonial presentation of the Letters of Commission by the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Lagos, Mr. Fadi Michael Issa, to the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON took place.

During the conversation with the Honourable Minister, the Honorary Consul expressed his readiness to provide assistance and protection to Ukrainian citizens in Lagos, as well as to work toward strengthening relations between Ukraine and Nigeria in the fields of economy, culture, and education. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of implementing joint humanitarian projects as an effective tool for deepening mutual understanding between the peoples of the two states.

The parties discussed the current state of bilateral relations and exchanged views on prospects for further strengthening cooperation.

Special attention was devoted to economic cooperation. The parties agreed that economic collaboration, increased trade turnover, the implementation of joint economic projects, and enhanced communication between the business communities of both countries constitute an important component of the development of bilateral relations and should be regarded as one of the priority areas of cooperation.

In conclusion, Ambassador of Ukraine Mr. Ivan Kholostenko, on behalf of the Government, assured the Honourable Minister of Ukraine’s highest consideration and emphasized that Ukraine views Nigeria as a valued strategic partner and ally. The Head of the diplomatic mission thanked the Honourable Minister for the warm reception and expressed hope that the appointment of Mr. Fadi M. Issa as Honorary Consul would become an important step toward strengthening relations between the two states.
