Today, Ukrainians around the world and friends of Ukraine are wearing vyshyvankas to honour one of the most iconic and recognisable Ukrainian traditions.
Every ornament and regional pattern of Ukrainian embroidery forms part of Ukraine’s rich cultural heritage. The vyshyvanka embodies the connection between generations of Ukrainians and remains one of the most important symbols of Ukrainian identity.
Vyshyvanka Day has also become a way to promote Ukraine globally and has grown into an international cultural phenomenon. That is why this celebration, founded by Lesia Voroniuk in 2006, was recognised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine during the “Honorary Ambassador of Ukraine” ceremony in the Cultural Heritage category.
Thank you to everyone who proudly wears the Ukrainian vyshyvanka, helping preserve and share Ukrainian culture and telling Ukraine’s story to the world.
