On June 7, the Embassy of Ukraine in Nigeria in partnership with the international non-profit organization "Humanity for Freedom" joined the global campaign "72 Hours for Freedom".
Within the framework of the campaign, a demonstration of the film "Superpower" co-directed by Aaron Kaufman and Sean Penn will be held in various capitals of the world on 6 continents within 72 hours (June 6-8).
The film highlights the courage of Ukrainian people in their resistance to the Russian occupation machine, the unwavering determination of Ukrainian defenders to stand for the independence and future of their country, and reveals the personality of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“Humanity for Freedom and ‘Superpower’ share an intention to lift up voices of hope and raise awareness around Ukraine’s urgent fight for freedom and justice” - said Sean Penn in Cannes - "Ukraine will, with the world’s help, ensure that freedom prevails".
Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence of Nigeria, heads and senior employees of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Nigerian public, cultural figures and mass media took part in the event, organised in the premises of the Cilverbird cinema.
The newly appointed Ambassador Ivan Kholostenko and Counsellor of the Embassy Ihor Cherin`ko welcomed the guests and informed about the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people against the Russian occupiers, war crimes of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, paying special attention to the most relevant topic today - the act of terrorism committed by Russia at the Kakhovka HPP.
Diplomats thanked foreign partners for helping Ukraine in its struggle for independence and answered questions of the media.
