Despite ongoing Russian aggression and the destruction of schools, universities, museums, and cultural heritage sites, Ukraine remains firmly committed to UNESCO’s values.
The Ambassador also emphasized that Russia once again failed to secure a seat — a clear signal that an aggressor state violating international law and destroying the culture of other nations cannot be part of UNESCO’s governing body.
Ukraine sincerely thanks all Member States for their support and trust. This election reaffirms that even in times of war, Ukraine remains an active and reliable member of the global community.
