The global initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska — “Peace Lesson: Snapshots from Ukraine — Untold Stories of Teenagers”, presented at the 5th Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, was held at the Embassy of Ukraine in Nigeria.

Schoolchildren were shown:

• how Ukrainian teenagers live in the reality of war while preserving dignity, resilience, and their dreams;
• how volunteer practices, creativity, and ingenuity have become an integral part of their daily lives;
• how art — including wartime murals — is used to reinterpret and overcome traumatic experiences.

In addition, key elements of Ukrainian history, culture, and traditions were introduced during the lesson. Special emphasis was placed on the story of the Zaporizhian Cossacks — a unique phenomenon of democratic self-governance, military mastery, and a profound commitment to freedom that shaped the foundation of modern Ukrainian identity.

At the end of the event, pupils were given an opportunity to share their impressions, ask questions, and express their views on what peace means for young people in different countries.
