According to the Military Intelligence of Ukraine, as of December 2020, there are no indications of nuclear weapon and armament storage usage.
There are more than 50 nuclear armament-carriers deployed in occupied Crimea. (on slide).
Possible carriers – “Tu-22М3” strategic long-range bomber, “Su-34” fighter-bomber, 9K720 “Iskander” mobile short-range ballistic missile system.
At the same time, Russian military command maintains planned exercises of Black Sea Fleet on nuclear weapon usage.
Russia continues examining the opportunity of reconstruction the “Feodosiya-13” (Krasnokamyanka) central nuclear ammunition storage in the occupied Crimea.
A set of measures for its partial restoration has been carried out on the object, but they are likely not used for their primary purpose.
Russia activated measures for support of the nationalized Ukrainian defense enterprises. There are eight Crimean enterprises in the register of RF military industrial complex. Defense enterprises are workloaded up to 50%. The basic particle of their workload is implementation of contracts within the framework of the RF state defensive order.
Crimean defense enterprises are also involved in fulfilment of international contracts.
Feodosiyskiy Opticheskiy Zavod produces special equipment for Algerian armoured vehicles, “Fiolent” Factory – control systems for combat ships of Indian Navy, Yevpatoriyskiy Aviatsionnyi Remontnyi Zavod repairs component parts for An-32 military transport planes of Indian Air Forces.
After 2020 the RF state defense order will be reduced (the part of modern military equipment will be 70%). It will cause decreasing of workload of Crimean defense enterprises and increasing of social-economical problems on the peninsula.
Given that the ecosystem of the peninsula is unique and extremely sensitive to human impact, its militarization negatively affects the environment of both Azov and Black Sea regions.
Construction of new cantonments and expansion of present ones, big infrastructure projects realization destroys rare plants and narrows the areas of animals.
Uncontrolled deployment of weapons, increased number of military trainings with military equipment involved has significantly affected Crimea’s ecosystem, pollutes the territory and coastal zone with propellant and oil products.
Militaristic policy of Russian occupation administration has already reduced the region's resources and in the medium term will have unforeseen consequences for the environment.
