Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the adoption of the UN Pact for the Future
23 September 2024 18:32

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the adoption of the UN Pact for the Future, emphasizing that it will contribute to reducing poverty and injustice around the world, as well as preventing future wars of aggression.

He stressed, "This is not the future Russia wants, because it attempted to derail the Pact during the negotiations and again today right at the opening of the Summit for the Future. In the end, Russia was isolated, and member states refused to even discuss its amendment.

The decisiveness to counter aggressive actions, whether in the UN General Assembly hall or on the battlefield, is critical to realizing our shared vision for the future, which we have agreed upon today. We look forward to working with all nations on the Pact's implementation".

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also welcomed the decision: "Despite all obstacles, including Russian attempts to undermine its adoption, the world has managed to unite around the vision of a just and secure future. However, this future is only possible if the largest war in Europe since WWII is ended in accordance with the Peace Formula, which is based on the UN Charter's Purposes and Principles, as well as the objective need for global security".
