In the context of the ongoing Olympic Games, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Nigeria emphasized that today the Olympics are not only a sporting competition, but also a test of human dignity and strength of spirit.
“The cost of this war for Ukrainian sport is not a metaphor, but brutal statistics. Russia’s full-scale aggression has already claimed the lives of more than 650 Ukrainian athletes and coaches. Hundreds of athletes will never again compete in international events. Those who continue to train do so under the sound of air raid sirens, fearing for their lives, their families, and their homes,” the Ambassador noted.
The Head of the Embassy stressed that today Ukraine is defending not only its territorial integrity, but also the core principles of global sport — peace, dignity, equality, and zero tolerance for violence.
