Ambassador issued a statement to Nigerian media calling for the return of Ukrainian children deported by Russia, unlawfully detained civilians, and prisoners of war
09 October 2026 16:36

In his statement, the Ambassador emphasized that behind every case of deportation or unlawful detention lies a human story — parents waiting for their child, families hoping to be reunited with their loved ones.

Particular attention was given to international efforts to bring Ukrainians home, including the Second International Conference Pathways to Peace, held on September 28–29, 2026, in Toronto, Canada.

“Every person returned reunites a family. Every family reunited strengthens a community. And every community that recovers and prospers helps rebuild Ukraine,” Ambassador Kholostenko stressed.

The Ambassador called on the international community to strengthen joint efforts to ensure the return of every deported Ukrainian child, every unlawfully detained civilian, and every Ukrainian prisoner of war.

The Ambassador’s statement was covered by the Nigerian newspaper Independent.
