On October 14, 2017, the staff of the Embassy of Ukraine in Nigeria celebrated the Day of the Defender of Ukraine and the Protection of the Blessed Virgin.

Zaporizhzhya Cossacks made their military holiday the Protection of the Blessed Virgin, which is celebrated on October 14. Since then, not one generation of Ukrainians, the fighters for its independence and freedom have been celebrating it as a day of Cossack glory and their own victory. The holiday of October 14 brings together our Christian traditions, the legacy of the Ukrainian Cossacks, embodies the courage and heroism of the defenders and liberators of our native land throughout the centuries-old Ukrainian history.

Modern Ukrainian defenders have demonstrated that the Ukrainian Army is capable of defending the state, being able to defend it, and raising the high respect of all our foreign partners.
